Some June Updates

Saying Goodbye

It was quite a turnout for Winkel’s going away party as friends and family came together to eat, drink and celebrate Winkel (but mostly to eat and drink). A few brothers showed up including the ever elusive Eveslage (who had apparently left a few minutes before I got there at 5 p.m.), Oswald, Lopcko and Scott Morris! There was talk about Burdick showing up later, but I had to leave around 7 p.m. to head back to NYC.

Winkel we wish you good luck and a safe return.

In other news, here is some found footage of brother Reznick when he was reporting about AIDS activist Sean Sasser. This was when he was a reporter at KCRG Tv in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

For those of you who haven’t heard, there was an article about Gerald in 2006 in the Orlando Sentinel:

“Anchor Makes Move”
Scott Maxwell
Orlando Sentinel

After anchoring the weekend news on WKMG-Channel 6 for more than five years, Gerald Reznick has decided to leave the anchor desk — because he can no longer see well while sitting there.Reznick said this week that he has been diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease, a form of macular degeneration, which left him struggling to read scripts under bright lights that aggravate his condition. In recent weeks, he resorted to trying to memorize his lines. But after finding that difficult, even struggling on air a few times, he decided: “I need to retain some dignity.”

Reznick, 37, is not leaving the station. Instead, he has decided to take a weekday reporting job — a move that news director Skip Valet described in a staff memo as a “courageous decision.” What started more than a year ago as a small fuzzy spot in Reznick’s left eye continued to worsen.”For me, it’s been dramatic,” he said. “Not only the ability to read, but not being able to recognize people’s faces.”As Reznick understands it, the chances are very good that he will ultimately go blind, at least legally so.But he is determined to continue working, even if it means learning new reporting techniques, vowing, “I will find a way.”

George gets surprised
Here’s a picture of Fennimore from around 1990 when he came to visit me and Eveslage at the Student Assistance Center at SAC.

And here he is at the reunion last December. Same look!

Brother Cooperman found this gem of picture from the days at Temple. You can see Dunn on lead vocals and Cooperman on Drums. That chap in the hat is McKinney. Cooperman also found out that Borenstein works at Smith Barney’s Mt. Laurel Office.

Brother Cooperman Checks In!

Love the hair!

Michael Cooperman contacted me out of the blue and by the looks of it, he’s had some horrible accident with some clippers - note that his luxurious locks have been shorn!

He’s currently a financial advisor at Smith Barney.

UPDATE

The Coopermans

Here’s Cooperman with his wife Jill and his sons Benjamin and Brandon.

Cooler than Phil Collins!

… and he says:

Until about a year ago I was still playing the drums. Right before my second son was born I had to put the drums away…temporarily. Since graduation I have had several jobs including buying my parent’s bagel bakery. I sold it 2 years ago before I went back in to the finance field. I have worked for The Depository Trust and Clearing Corp, JPMorgan Chase, and currently Smith Barney. Overall, things are good and I’m still in New Jersey!

Aaaand We’re Back

Pappy!!It’s been a long time since there’s been an update and what better way to update than to dredge up old photographs. Here are about 32 scans that Scot Mentzer had sent to me last December. I finally got around to putting them up. Hit the F11 button on your computer (Windows only) and then click here to see the entire slide show.

The Last Days of 2131 N. Broad Street

Soup for nutsBrother Edwards has found a treasure trove of old photgraphs from 1990-1992. Most of them depict what looks like the brothers packing up and leaving 2131 N. Broad Street under Temple Police escort. James had enough foresight to document the process. The condition of the building looks like it could have claimed lives at any moment.

The second part of the series of images shows the house on Norris Street and the last part shows some type of road, fishing and golf trips. (Bonus points to anyone who can point out what is interesting on the fishing trip.)

Spring Fling 1987/88

Pictures from Spring Fling 1987/88 at Temple University. It was the age of denim jackets, feathered hair, short shorts (for men and women), the baseball cap perched askew on heads and the ubiquitous plastic cup with one’s beverage of choice. Can anyone identify these brothers and and friends? Click on the images for a larger version.
